GUIDELINES FOR PROPOSING NEW PAA AWARDS
PAA FUND CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Thank you to the many PAA members who have made financial commitments to the PAA Fund Campaign. The PAA Fund Campaign has reached $212,260 toward our goal of $1 million because of your generosity.
The PAA Fund Campaign was launched in April 2009 to attempt to match the generosity of five distinguished foundations that recognize the work population scientists do and want to advance the field. Their generosity, matched by our own, will enable the PAA to increase the number of policy briefings for government officials, expand our publications, strengthen our website, enable a Census@School program, provide for a seed grant program for PAA members, and facilitate an increase in the number of travel awards for the 2010 Annual Meeting for scholars from lower-income countries and regional population associations, among other initiatives. PAA members are encouraged to submit suggestions for the use of campaign funds.
Many of you have made donations in honor of your mentors or colleagues and some have encouraged others who are not member of PAA to do so to honor a respected individual. When tribute gifts reach $5,000, the honored person will be recognized on the PAA website.
